  • CONGRATS to Snehaa - California Central Spelling Bee

The California Central Valley Spelling Bee is a competition that more than 200,000 school students in the Central Valley area (see the counties that are part of the valley at the bottom of this email) have the eligibility to compete in. There are two levels of competition to get here. First, you have to become a school champion in any of the schools that are part of central valley.

The school champions(~150) first go through a district level written spelling bee which filters down the contestants for the finals for the Regional Central Valley Spelling Bee. We typically have 60-70 contestants competing in the finals. Snehaa was placed in the Central Valley Spelling Bee for the past three years as winner of fifth place in 2012, seventh place in 2013, and second place in 2014.

  • Welcome Mr. Efa Huckaby - Our New Vice Principal.
The 2014-15 school year marks my 16th year in Education and my first at Folsom Middle School.    I am very excited to work with such a dedicated staff, hard-working students, supportive parents and caring community.

I grew up the middle of five children in Sunnyvale CA and started my teaching career at Bret Harte Middle School, teaching 7th grade English and Social Studies in the San Jose Unified School District. My last position was at Ygnacio Valley High School as Vice Principal where I spent the last six years. At Ygnacio Valley, I headed the Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports team; I was the administrator in charge of athletics and activities as well as handled master schedule and discipline. I have an open door policy and look forward to working with you to serve the needs of our students and community.

I live in Citrus Heights with my wife and our three children, Annalise, 16 Victoria, 9 and Carter, 3. They keep us very busy with Completive soccer, swim team, Girl Scouts and general run of the mill toddler mischief.
